Section “Women in Statistics”

The Croatian Statistical Association “Women in Statistics” Section’s mission and vision:
The purpose / mission of the Section is to promote the active role of women in all areas of statistical profession, science, culture and literacy in Croatia (and beyond), which is in line with Croatian Statistical Association’s (CSA) goals.
The vision of the Section is to create a better world with women statisticians through statistics.


The CSA “Women in Statistics” Section’s goals: 

  1. Promote and strengthen the representation of women statisticians in the Croatian Statistical Association (CSA), as well as similar domestic and international associations and their sections.
  2. Helping members to take active and visible roles in CSA, ISI and other statistical associations.
  3. Collect information about women in statistical professions in Croatia and facilitate the flow of information between statisticians.
  4. Encourage interest in statistics among women and encourage students in schools and colleges to attend statistical programs of formal and informal learning.
  5. Support the collection of statistical data on women with the aim of creating relevant studies on the role of women in various activities in Croatia and beyond.
  6. Support and increase the opportunity to develop mentoring relationships between women in similar areas of statistics.
  7. Improve networking and exchange of ideas among women statisticians, with various purposes, such as: designing statistical research and projects, improving education and statistical literacy for women statisticians, improving their lives, etc.

The CSA Section “Women in Statistics“  was founded on 23 February 2018 (upon the CSA Steering Committee decision since 16 February 2018, according to the CSA Statutes). The first section’s Chair, being it’s founder, has been Mrs Ksenija Dumičić, PhD, Full Professor Tenured at the Department of Statistics, University of Zagreb Faculty of Economics and Business.
