Croatian Statistical Association (CSA)

Croatian Statistical Association (CSA), founded in 2005, is activated at the beginning of 2015 in accordance with the financial business and non-profit organizations in October 2014 (Decision of the City Office for General Administration Zagreb and RNO form with RNO number 00333155). Its goal is to promote the statistical profession and science, and brings together professionals and enthusiasts in their everyday work with the official statistics and methods of statistical analysis, using and developing them.

 

The history and the timeline of Croatian Statistical Association:

1.In 2005Director General of the Croatian Statistical Bureau, Mr Jakov Gelo, PhD, initiated the founding of the new Croatian Statistical Association -CSA (Hrvatsko statističko društvo – HSD).

The presentation of the newly founded CSA was given at the 130th anniversary celebration of the CBS held in the Croatian Chamber of Economy.

In 2005 -The first President of the CSA was Mr Jakov Gelo, PhD, Director General of the CBS (and Full Professor in Demography, at the Department of Demography, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb).

 

2.In the period 2005 – 2015 the CSA was inactive.

 

3.In 2015 Director General of the Croatian Statistical Bureau, Mr Marko Krištof, initiated the refreshment of the activities of the CSA, with an imperative to adjust it to the current Law on Non-profits Organizations in Croatia (the law announced in October 2014: Zakon o udrugama, 06.06.2014; NN 074/2014). In February 2015, the CSA had its re-founding meeting.

In 2015 -The second President of the CSA was elected and it has been Mrs Ksenija Dumičić, PhD (Full Professor at the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb).

4.In 2015 – The CSA founded and published the first Croatian statistical journal named Croatian Review of Economic, Business and Social Statistics (CREBSS) with  two paper issues per yer.

5.At the end of 2015 – The number of CSA members was 30.

 

6.In 2015 – The CSA was announced at the ISI list of national statistical associations 

 

7.In 2015 – The CSA was announced at the World of Statistics website.

 

8.In 2016The CSA founded the first statistical conference in Croatia – International Statistical Conference in Croatia – ISCCRO. The First ISCCRO’16 was fully named: The 1st International Statistical Conference in Croatia, 05-06 May 2016, Zagreb, Croatia; TOPIC: „New Challenges of Official and Applied Statistics in European Union. It attracted about 120 authors from 11 countries with 55 presentations.

At the ISCCRO’16, the following awards were established:

  • The ISCCRO ‘16 Best Conference Paper in the Special Session for Challenges of Official Statistics Award (At the ISCCRO-2016 it was awarded to: Petar Sorić, Mirjana Čižmešija, Ivana Lolić for the paper „The challenges of estimating monthly national accounts data in Croatia“
  • The ISCCRO ’16 Best Special Session for Young Statisticians Paper Award were established, too. (It was not awarded in 2016).

At the ISCCRO’16, two publications were published: (1) the Book of Abstracts included 55 Abstracts, and (2) the CD with Proceedings of the ISCCRO Conference included 34 full scientific papers. The details of the respective publications of the ISCCRO-2016 are:

 

9.In 2016 – The CSA first section, named Club R, was founded on 23 September 2016 with the first Leader of the section Mr Josip Arnerić, PhD, Assistant Professor at the Department of Statistics, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb.
The founders of the “Club R” are: Josip Arnerić- (Leader of the Club R; Department of Statistics, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb), Marko Krištof (Croatian Bureau of Statistics), Mirjana Pejić Bach (Department of Informatics, Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb), Goran Gruić (Croatian National Bank), Lidija Gligorova (Croatian Bureau of Statistics), Anita Harmina (Veleučilište Vern, Zagreb), Ana Aleksandra Janković (SRCE, Zagreb), and Zrinka Marušić (Institut za turizam, Zagreb).

 

10.In 2016 – The CSA journal (paper version was established in 2015) Croatian Review of Economic, Business and Social Statistics (CREBSS) appeared as an open access journal published by the Publisher De Gruyter Open:

11.In 2016 –
